Despite the fact that smoking is known to cause heart disease and lung cancer, the rates of these diseases is still low despite the Asian countries where the prevalence of smoking, the researchers say that there is more evidence of the existence of the relationship between green tea and the lower those rates.
The researchers at Yale University in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, in detail the evidence on the link between green tea to better heart health and a lower risk of cancer.
Said Bauer E. Sumpio and his colleagues at the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven Bikunitict, the research said that the high concentration of antioxidants found the tea may have many health benefits.
And Antioxidants help to quell the particles known as molecules of the extra electron, which, if increased could lead to damage to the body’s cells and thus to diseases, and these particles are produced naturally in the body as it can reach the body from external sources such as smoking tobacco.
In Japan, China and other Asian countries, the drinking green tea is a social custom which is less processed and richer in catechins than black tea commonly consumed in the West.
Contradiction
According to Sumpio and his colleagues that the practice may explain the so-called Asian paradox. The researchers point out that the contradiction is reflected in the consideration of the figures relating to health, in different regions of the world.
For example, 348 people die every hundred thousand American men because of coronary heart disease each year, while the total number 186, although Japan’s higher rate of smoking.
And heart disease develops when the coronary artery narrowing and become the walls of the arteries feeding the heart of more solid because of the accumulation of cholesterol.
The team said that the researchers said laboratory tests found that the antioxidants green tea, may help in the prevention of these diseases through their effects on LDL cholesterol.
And perhaps help in antioxidants, also to the maintenance of the walls of the arteries in good condition and prevent blood cells from sticking together and forming clots.
Laboratory studies have shown that the materials antioxidants present in green tea may prevent tumor formation or growth in a number of forms, the researchers say it may help to explain why the death rate from lung cancer in Korea is unexpectedly low.
