Smoking leads to premature death

U.S. medical study reported that smoking raises the risk of death firmly in middle age for men and women, but quit the habit, even at the age of progress in reducing the risk of premature death.

The researchers said that out of about 41% of men between 50 thousand residents in rural areas of Norway were followed up their 25-year-old, who continued to smoke heavily, “the rate of one pack a day at least,” died at the age between 40 and 70 years, compared with only 14% men who never smoked.

As for the smokers Acharhat 26% died at the age of 40 to 70 years compared to only 9% of non-smokers.

The research team said the University of Bergen, the results showed that smoking strongly reduces the chances of survival from 40 to 70 years.

He pointed out that there is a close relationship between smoking and death, which means that the risk of premature death increases with each cigarette is smoked per day.

The study also shows that the later a person to start smoking, the less likely a result of death at an early age, a discovery that supports the efforts to prevent adolescents and children in pre-adolescence.

She pointed out that the early cessation of smoking cessation better than at a later age, but also stressed that the benefits to grow for those who take off from smoking before the birthday or the forty-fifth session, as well as ordering him to stop the progress at any age between 50 and 59 years.

The research team, said that survival rates show a strong and clear the considerable influence of smoking on the high risk of death in middle-aged men and women.

This study is the largest and longest duration of smoking habits and consequences, and published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, which reaffirms that cigarette smokers are more likely to die at an early age.

Smoking for many years to reduce the intelligence!

Smoking inhibits the ability of smokers to think properly and prevent them from focus and detract from the intelligence and exposes them to the insensitivity mind.

It was also found that the progressive effects of smoking on memory and the ability to solve the problems and issues and the degree of intelligence when smoked cigarettes for many years.

The researchers said in the journal “Alcoholism and drug addiction,” that smoking is a major cause of decline in mental capacity in men addicted to alcohol, even after taking into account the adverse impacts, as noted a decline in mental resulting from smoking among men who do not suffer from alcohol problems.

Scientists believe that the decline in IQ and poor ability to think one of the most important reason for smokers to abandon the harmful habit immediately, pointing out that the mechanism of the effect of smoking on the human mind and brain function are not yet clear, but it is believed that they include the effects of chemical and nerve damage to blood vessels feeding of the brain, which also explains the reason for the deterioration of memory and understanding of patients with neurological, cardiac and pulmonary diseases.

Smoking prevents human saliva to a deadly poison

Human exposure to cigarette smoke is touring drivel to a toxic substance that destroys the cells of the mouth revealed new research by scientists at the Institute of Biotechnology that smoking prevents human saliva to the proper mix of toxical chemical increase the risk of a cancer of the mouth and saliva, the researchers said, is the first line of defense in the human body against cancer because it Equalization of a toxin and protective layers of cells lining the oral cavity and the mixing of smoke with him, but converting it into a deadly combination of these cells and studies have shown that human exposure to cigarette smoke does not lose the sound characteristics of natural saliva useful, but converting it into a toxic substance that destroys the cells of the mouth, which means that the cigarette smoke does not The destruction alone, but prevents the body against itself, the researchers found that the compounds in tobacco smoke destroy the protective antioxidants found in saliva, leaving a sticky substance that damage cells and increase the chances of becoming malignant cancer cells, noting that the more exposure of the cells of the mouth saliva contaminated with tobacco was the most deadly and destructive to them .

Smoking increases the risk of diabetes

In addition to the many damage to public health and the health of the heart and arteries, in particular, showed a new research conducted at Wake Forest University in America, that smoking increases the risk of diabetes as well.

The researchers found during the testing of the relationship between smoking and diabetes and compared the incidence of the disease after five years among smokers and those who had never smoked, to 25 per cent of the participants who smoked and were not living with diabetes at the beginning of the study, were injured after five years, compared to about 14 percent of the non-smokers.

And found them in their study, published in the magazine / diabetes care / American specialist, that smokers were more susceptible to the disease, even after taking into account the risk factors associated with it, pointing out that smoking negatively affects the situation, which precedes the disease, known as “insulin resistance”, as needed object to the larger quantities of this hormone to deal with the same amount of glucose sugar output for the destruction of carbohydrates in the body.

The previous studies have shown that this situation increases the risk of atherosclerosis caused by the accumulation of fat and cholesterol and other substances in the walls of the arteries.

The researchers found that increasing the thickness of the walls of the carotid artery located in the neck, indicating that insulin resistance is a risk factor for heart disease independent.
The researchers are now conducting further studies in this area depend on the tests to measure certain indicators instance working with sugar, cholesterol and body mass and arterial hypertension, and the amount of smoking, and compared with similar tests conducted after five years.

300 deaths per day for the victims of smoking

The status of the fight against drug addiction in the state of Saxony, the average number of deaths caused by complications of smoking was 300 deaths per day in Germany.

The emergence of smoking:
Smoking is the first known in America in the sixteenth century, and moved them to Spain and England, then with all of Europe, and included the use of embryos to the manufacture of inhalers cigars and cigarettes, and there was always a debate about the benefits and disadvantages, but the beginning of 1900 increased convictions about the serious harms and has taken action to look into this disadvantages.
The source of smoking:
Smokers inhale smoke while the so-called smoke is a gas containing molecules called liquid tar, tar and a mixture of a lot of material, including most of the harmful and more than 25 carcinogenic, the most serious:
Benzopyrene 1: a high-risk carcinogens article,
2 phenol: a carcinogenic substance, and 40 times more toxic to the presence with Benzopyrene,
3 nicotine: This article is known to the people and has three bad effects:
• affect the nervous system and in particular the friendly and lead to three degrees in the sense of: Zhu, and subsidence, and defibrillators (double the capacity of control on the movement).
• They also lead to nicotine Shell defense mechanism in the respiratory system and the disabled, however, when a crippling celia working to clean and scrape the surface of the respiratory system.
• It also leads to mucous membrane irritation, and long-term irritation of the membrane makes this more vulnerable to cancer.
How was access to what is now known?
Began to question the serious increase in 1930 from lung cancer, acute injuries, linked to the spread of smoking habit, and studies ranging from studies of chemical, anatomical studies on animals and then on the rights, and has dealt with a case study of the epidemic in the world, and in the fifth decade of the last century (between 1950 and 1960) evolved into studies cellular Cellular & Molecular, and research methods used Respobr ACTIVE ACTIVE Rosber and the way in which a large number of people are tracking the situation for long periods and possibly for life, was being fabricated to study the changes in the cell and how the genes often up to the seriousness of the impact of cancer, the study of how this transition is happening.
These studies began in the Scandinavian countries and then moved to England in 1962, and in 1964 issued a decision in the United States, the most recent health uproar objectively addressed the negative effects of smoking has resisted tobacco-producing companies, and nearly fought in the resort to the courts, however, that the content could not be forced to refute companies to be recognized.
Resolution of private health smoking in the United States:
Between (1964 and 2004) was 27 was the most self-report of 2004, which was in the form of volume was reduced to 27 pages, and the results proved that it does not address the accompanying uncertainty and objective evidence that smoking causes cancer.
The relationship between smoking and cancer:
The report classified the relationship into three categories of reasons:
1 Class I: cancers proved their relationship to smoking and found that smoking is a direct cause and necessarily lead to cancer is an investigator, including:
First: cancers of the larynx (not seen Dr. Salah Osman for his throat cancer, but smokers, except one case of a reformed Bwaber oil Kaz) of lung cancers caused by genetic changes in lung cells.
Second: cancers of the mouth, pharynx, al-Marri: the more often the abusers of alcohol.
Third: Other cancers were not present, and added after confirmation of the cause of which Albankerias cancer and cancer of the bladder, kidney, and cervical cancer, acute leukemia, cancer of the stomach.
2 Category II: cancers suggests the existence of a causal relationship, or there is a suspicion that Mzbb cancer from smoking, including:
Cancers: ovarian, rectum, prostate, liver, breast cancer.
3 Class III: failed to prove that the cancers linked to smoking: cancers of the brain, intrauterine (but perhaps there was a hormone-related film or the soles of the uterus).
Ensure non-cancerous diseases caused by smoking:
First: affecting both sexes:
Alobehrip or blood, hardening of the arteries, heart disease and stroke, semi-paralysis, Altnevsipalhadp and chronic diseases, asthma, hardening of the lungs, retinopathy, thyroid, digestive ulcers and bleeding Alegrahi, white cataract in the eye.
Second: The diseases of women:
Lack of fertilization, the placenta focal flawed, complications of pregnancy and the fetus, premature birth, lack of weight of the fetus, the weakness of the sudden death of the newborn pregnant, lack of density of bone fractures of the neck of the thigh.
Non-cancerous diseases are likely to be caused by smoking:
However, cervical fractures in the thigh, Blue (blue water) ..
What follows from the report?
We conclude that smoking harms necessarily all members of the body, and conclude that is essential to quit smoking to reduce the harm, and it must be noted that the studies proved that the so-called light smoke damage, at least for the regular and never completely false propaganda reassuring, and the smoke and Tattiyr add more flavors a lot of damage, and that the only interest of the filter is not filtering, but in the removal of part of the cigarette, which fervent cool slightly harmful gases.
Risk factors:
With the four risk factors:
1 duration of smoking, which have been on the smoker started smoking.
2 the age of the smoker, as the greatest threat in the early age (less than 20 years).
3 the number of cigarettes smoked a day,
4 method of smoking (or Tnvij cans), and type of smoking: cigar, cigarette or without flavor, Orkilp.
Smoking in the United States:
We have counted the number of smokers in the United States in 2004 amounted to 64 million smokers, smoking has caused the fatal disease of smokers, 000 440 of them.
Losses caused by smoking:
Losses resulting from the use of smoke beyond imagination, as the amounts spent on the purchase of tobacco in the United States alone each year to reach 300 billion dollars, but the injury caused by the use of smoke and causing the disruption of work and lack of production amounts to 50 billion, as 50 billion spent on treatment The annual report said that the material losses due to smoking amount (157 billion dollars).
How was treated in the United States?
Possible due to awareness campaigns and various pieces of legislation to reduce the consumption of tobacco since 1964 by half, as the decline of smokers by half the students also, as I said, the proportion of exposure and passive smoking.
Plans have been made to deliver the right information to the fraud-free in large segments of the society as it charged some of the smoke-producing companies to conduct research and studies under the control, was sentenced Philip Morris to pay a fine and received millions of dollars because of the concealment of information that was known.

Why are we in our country? And means of prevention:
That we can benefit with the report in line with reality, and it is necessary to bring about a central body to coordinate with all ministries, of its plans to reduce tobacco consumption, educate the young, and the removal of desire Balchbh are handsome hero, who boast of his personality characterized by emptiness, while smoking, and highlight his image as offensive for himself and others.
Treatment:
Help smokers to quit smoking and the establishment of private clinics with a multi-phase patterns of attachment to smoking addictive, and to convince that its relationship with the cigarette smoker is one of blind love, the smoker looking for the slightest excuse and Otvhaa to justify the attachment, and that cigarettes are a deadly Habib left.
Second-hand smoke:
It is necessary to alert parents to their children, which cause damage to them when the smoke near them, and Infthon Djanhm toxins in the same room in which they are their children and loved ones, they are passive smokers, as when he surveyed the parent harm that was caused by the liver to his son Vlzp there is no doubt that it will make itself tortured conscience before him for his assumption of a disservice to the people closest to his heart.

Damascus - Syria

Tobacco plant origin of the continent of America, was used by indigenous people for smoking and chewing stimulant treatment and the benefits of a magic, and was imported with the first explorers to the ancient world, in the sixteenth century, to spread its use in the European continent in the seventeenth century, and then rooted around in the all the world, in particular, and that this plant can grow in a multi-climatic conditions and many, in most countries of the world.

Smoking is usually Oqsaa in the world, and take many forms: cigarettes - Alsekar - water pipe - bubble - a pipe - to chew the leaves. Businesses and contribute to the dissemination of the practice for financial reasons, so that big companies are going in today’s propaganda to the public consumers of adolescents and even children in some cases, causing the increasing prevalence of this habit at an early age, with increasing seriousness. And statistics show in developed countries, that 70% of smokers start before the age of 18. The smoke of which is to sabotage the body tissues of the past, and the adolescent and child, they enter the toxins caused by smoking in the formation of tissues that are still developing, for themselves, causing the most serious diseases in a very early age.

Materials involved in the installation of cigarettes:
- Nicotine: This is the basic material in the composition of tobacco, and has a catalytic effect and agitated, and that leads to addiction. And is a highly toxic, interference in the installation of a large number of anti-insect.

Cigarettes contain the relatively small amount of this poisonous substance, and part of them Itakrb result of combustion temperature, but the balance enough to cause addiction and other health damage.

Is the effect of nicotine in the body as the amounts taken, small amounts have a stimulative effect and instigator of the secretion of adrenaline, which increases the number of heart and that it can be irregular, and increases blood pressure and reduce the appetite for food. The large quantities, it can be fatal (some types of poisoning, an anti-insects). And smokers usually eat small amounts to the medium, but the cumulative impact of the body.

Lead to nicotine addiction, withdrawal symptoms, and it shows (to stop dealing with the material causing the addiction) in the short hours, making a person feel comfortable, addicted to the following address dose.

- Materials Alokilip (Alkaloids): It is a group of highly toxic material to the tissue of living, there are toxic to plants in self-defense (such as poisonous fungus), there are in the tobacco leaf Albireden (Pyridine)

- El Oued flavoring: added by manufacturers to give different flavors of their products

- Aromatic substances that give the smell of tobacco in addition to the core by the manufacturers of other perfumes

- Material resulting from combustion: the carbon monoxide severe toxicity, and tar, and ash grains

The harmful effects of smoking:

Smoking is the primary cause of the deadly disease in the world, with the help of a very large quantity of dangerous diseases, among them:

- Lung cancer: where the mortality rate resulting in smokers over 23 times that of non-smokers,

- Oral cancer

- Cancer of the larynx

- Cancer-Marri

- Gallbladder cancer

- Pancreatic cancer

- College and prostate cancer

- Increasing the proportion of pneumonia deaths towns and emphysema five times

- Double the incidence of and mortality from heart disease

- Increasing the proportion of cerebrovascular accidents (paralysis) by 50%

- Narrowing the arteries leading to the ocean, which may evolve to amputation

- More than the rate of premature birth-weight babies and children of mothers with smokers, and as a result the children of those mothers, less sharper than expected. As these children are more vulnerable to sudden death during the period of lactation.

All recent studies show, that these Alodhararla vary depending on the method of smoking, and is similar to the cigarette and pipe (Albaib) and a water pipe.

Addiction:

Making a habit of drug addiction is a foreign substance on the body, so that it becomes needed on an ongoing basis to maintain a certain balance, and to stop dealing with this article, leading to the withdrawal syndrome.

Leads to two types of nicotine addiction:

- Chemical addiction: namely, that the body needs this chemical, and as a result of its impact on serotonin receptors in the brain cells

- My addiction: the addiction to certain movements and positions taken by certain person during smoking (for example: movements of the hands, drinking coffee facilities for smoking, how to speak, a sense of confidence … etc.)

Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances events, with 80% of those who stop smoking, to return one day.

The symptoms of withdrawal (the urgent need for smoking) show a few hours after the interruption, which explains the need for cigarette smokers morning, more than anything else.

The doctor and the supervisor of the program to stop smoking, usually, through a set of questions to the patient (programmer interrogation by Red addiction), which helped him to determine the percentage of chemical and psychological addiction to the patient, thereby determining the details of the program to be followed.

Stop smoking:

Studies indicate that the risk of mortality of diseases caused by smoking, it has declined over the years after the cessation of smoking. And reduced risk by 50% of people who stop by the age of 50 years.

However, stopping smoking is not easy, as we mentioned earlier, nicotine is one of the strongest materials caused the addiction. Thus, the patient often needs the assistance of a specialist doctor, who will undertake the necessary medical tests and to identify the type and proportion of drug addiction, and the development of the program appropriate for each patient.

A smoking cessation program on a set of basic guidelines and to be followed, and are:

1 - You must take the decision to stop completely and radically

2 - is to set a date to stop smoking, where a full and sudden stop, and not gradually

3 - the doctor to give a special medicine to help the patient to stop, these drugs are a group of antidepressants that affect serotonin receptors in the brain, and thus help reduce the symptoms of withdrawal syndrome. The most important of these drugs is Bupropion (Zyban), to be given a dose of 150 mg per day in the first three days, and then 300 mg per day thereafter. Is to begin treatment before the two weeks of stopping smoking, and continue treatment for 3 months at least.

4 - The doctor giving Mawwadat nicotine (the nicotine through the non-smoking) is gradually decreasing doses, and to alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal. These are steady in different forms, including Asaqat skin (and is the best), and chewing gum, nasal spray and … Noting that the multiplication of which could create an addiction to it, must be used correctly and decreasing.

5 - psychological support: the goal is to help you get rid of psychological addiction, and a variety of ways, including participation in workshops of patients dropped out of smoking, or the religious and spiritual practices, or seek the help of the psychiatrist, or to use alternative methods of traditional medicine.

6 - the practice of sport: the key is to reduce the impact of clouds, because the sport helps Tqop Almpehmi the nervous system, which works against the effects of adrenaline (which increases the excretion of nicotine). Sport is the best loved by the patient, but must be exercised regularly and without interruption.

Here, we must reiterate that the cessation of smoking is not easy, but it is not impossible, and the decision must be taken in view of the negative effects of health, social and psychological result of this bad habit.

Detailed Information on Mesothelioma

Malignant mesothelioma, also known as mesothelioma cancer is a deadly cancer that affects the lining of the lung (pleura), the lining of the abdominal cavity (peritoneum), and the lining of the heart (pericardium). The most familiar type of mesothelioma is pleural mesothelioma, while pericardial mesothelioma and peritoneal mesothelioma are less frequent. Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles. The main cause of mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos, although other factors such as smoking may result in additional complications.Smoking modern cigarettes does not seem to enlarge the risk of mesothelioma. Simian virus 40 (SV40) may act as a cofactor in the development of mesothelioma. There are five common types of mesothelioma. Four of are malignant cancers, and one is a benign condition. Pleural Mesothelioma type of mesothelioma develops in the lining of the lungs, known as the pleura. It is the most common form of malignant mesothelioma. Peritoneal Mesothelioma form of mesothelioma develops in the lining of the abdominal cavity. Pericardial Mesothelioma form of mesothelioma develops in the lining of the heart, known as the pericardium.

Testicular Mesothelioma is the infrequent type of malignant mesothelioma; to date, there have been less than 100 proof cases. Testicular mesothelioma develops in the tunica vaginalis of the testicles. Benign Mesothelioma benign form of mesothelioma most commonly develops in the pleura. This is the only form of mesothelioma for which full cure and recovery is a probable outcome, though it may be a precursor of future asbestos-related problems. Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include weight loss and abdominal pain and swelling due to a buildup of fluid in the abdomen.

Other symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma may comprise bowel obstruction, blood clotting irregularities, anemia, and fever. Treatment for mesothelioma depends on the sites of the cancer, the phase of the disease, and the patient’s age and normal health. Surgery is a common treatment for mesothelioma. For cancer of the pleura (pleural mesothelioma), a lung may be removed in an operation called a pneumonectomy. Sometimes part of the diaphragm, the muscle below the lungs that helps with breathing, is also removed. Radiotherapy may be used as part of treatment to try to cure mesothelioma.

Three of those articles mentioned are extremely dangerous, in particular, namely:

- Tar: is a mixture of hydrocarbons, which turn into a sticker inside the lungs and containing several of the compounds that cause cancer
- Nicotine: a chemical is an addictive drug, which when absorbed into the lungs and affect and nervous system, and the smoker smokes cigarettes in order to maintain a certain level of blood Alnikotinen

Magazine says HEXAGON volume 6 No. 3 in 1978 and from Switzerland: the tobacco companies that produce two cigarettes a day for each person on Earth if taken this amount of nicotine in one go for the cigarettes were able to exterminate the entire human race in the hours.

Between the World Health Report 1975, the number who die or are living miserable lives due to smoking than those who die because of plague and cholera and smallpox and tuberculosis and leprosy, and typhoid every year.

The report of the Royal College of Physicians in 1977 “Tobacco or health” of every ten smokers, three or four of them otherwise would have died as a result of smoking.

The cigarettes sold in developing countries contain twice the amount of tar and nicotine in their counterparts in Europe and by the same company and with the same name, and the reason for this is that little or no oversight in developing countries, while the country is heavily in advanced post Graduate Medicine Journal, December 1978

Safe cigarette!

There is no such thing as a safe cigarette, and this applies to those who claim they offer a few cigarettes and the tar content of nicotine, and those who turn to smoking a cigarette lighter, end up inhaling cigarettes for longer and in larger quantities, even to maintain a high level of nicotine in their blood, and thus can not happen to have a yearning for a cigarette, and eventually spend more money on cigarettes and eat the same amount of toxins that enter the body and thus become exposed to the same degree of risk of disease

Smoking a cigarette or cigar or pipe or water pipe, all undermine the health and health of those around you, there is no safe level of tobacco use

The impact of nicotine on the human body:

Medical research has shown that smoking is addictive like drugs resources and causing addiction after smoking a cigarette or two cigarettes, especially when they start smoking at an early age before the age of five years.
It impacts on the smoker when smoking cessation: anxiety, inability to concentrate, headaches, dizziness and confusion in the digestive system, and show symptoms two hours after smoking a cigarette and another peaking after 24 hours and gradually decline until well after two or three .
It is important for the withdrawal symptoms: mental depression, fatigue, fatigue, weight gain, and a sense of losing something Aziz, these symptoms gradually disappear, but it must force of will.

Smoking and respiratory diseases:

The toxic substances found in cigarette smoke is the direct damage to the liner of a portfolio of the upper and lower respiratory tract, and this is easier for the bacteria invade the body and because he is infected, smokers and people exposed for a long time to destroy the possibility of lungs, a condition known as “chronic obstructive pulmonary disease”
It was found that smokers are more susceptible to injury b lung cancer and larynx cancer and chronic bronchitis and Alamvzima (swelling Vesicles air)

Smoking and oral and dental diseases:

A lip cancer and tooth decay and rupture of the tongue and the weakness of the sense of taste it.

Smoking and diseases of the digestive system:

Nicotine affects the digestive system in a variety of ways through the blood flow and by targeting nerves that feed the gastrointestinal tract, and help the emergence of smoking and cancers of the colon cancer and oral pharynx and esophagus, as well as causing gastritis and stomach ulcers and twelve

Smoking and urinary tract diseases:

Moving chemical carcinogens (cancer-causing) in tobacco smoke inhaled by the lungs into the bloodstream and stimulate the emergence of cancer in some other members, such as cancer of the bladder and kidney and bladder tumors offices, as well as inflammation of the prostate gland and prostate cancer.

Smoking, heart disease and blood vessels:

Smoking helps to hardening of the arteries or the emergence of platelets in the blood fat in various parts of the body, which would increase the accumulation of a significant degree of risk of heart attack and b stroke, and smoking can cause disturbances in the systems of the heart rate result in stimulating the production of adrenalin
It was found that smokers are more likely to die of sudden Alzbhat and chest because of a clogged coronary feeding the heart muscle (the blood vessel clots or Kthar can be fatal if part of the disintegration of the stroke and moved to the lungs or brain), and paralysis due to a stroke cardiovascular feeding of certain parts of the brain, and smoking speed up the pulse of the heart and increases the high blood pressure.
Smoking also reduces the level of high-density Allibobrotin or what we call the good cholesterol

Smoking and oral contraceptives:

Women who smoked and took oral contraceptives become more vulnerable to the risk of infection and blood clots heart attacks and strokes than non-smokers, especially after the age of thirty

Smoking and skin:

Smoking causes slack in the early of the skin due to other factors in addition to the impact of the cataract of blood vessels that supply the skin with nutrients and oxygen necessary for the survival of the skin in good health

Smoking, and ear nose and throat:

Contribute to hundreds of harmful chemicals in tobacco smoke in most cases of cancer of the throat and larynx

Smoking and Pregnancy:

The impact of smoking on pregnant women seriously, causing smoke to increase the number of times, abortion, and lack of birth weight, and increased fetal mortality, and the birth of dead fetuses, and increase the proportion of pneumonia in infants.

Smoking and locomotor system:

Some studies have linked cigarette smoking and osteoporosis among women, this association may be due to some of the components contained in cigarette smoke itself, but may also be a result of the reality is that women who smoke cigarettes tend to be thinner to be more non-smokers and not the earliest to reach the age of menopause, both of the risk factors that lead to osteoporosis.

Passive smoking:

Now proved conclusively that the negative effects of smoking on the relatives of smokers being forced to inhale tobacco smoke, which the smoker Idechnh especially in enclosed or narrow places.

Recent studies have shown that inhalation of cigarette smoke by non-smokers are not less harmful smoking was not positive that the most damage!

The go-smoker smoke contains nicotine, carbon monoxide, acid Alsenil addition to carcinogens, and these substances cause irritation of the mucous membranes in the eye and upper respiratory tract, in addition to feeling dizzy and headaches and nausea, and that exposure to these substances for a long time can lead to disorders in the functioning of some organs such as respiratory and Alhamadi system and the immune system, Faisab Almtard, especially in childhood infections in the respiratory system and weak appetite and tension headaches, in addition to the sensitivity of chronic

It is important to know that passive smoking is the cause of infection than the disease, most notably lung cancer caused by inhaling polluted air, it was found that the incidence of a certain type of lung cancer at the high rate of women smokers, 2-4-fold for women non-smokers, as found that passive smoking is one of the most important causes of infertility in men, and noted that more people are affected by passive smoking are heart patients who develop chest Bzbhat when exposed to cigarette smoke, because of the Federation of hemoglobin in the blood with the first carbon dioxide rather than oxygen, reducing the amount of oxygen which amounts to the heart muscle and the problems occur because of this, and the respiratory system, and patients are also more sensitive than others affected by passive smoking.

Who are the victims of passive smoking?

- Embryos:
Exposed embryos to abortion and congenital malformations and the deficit in the growth and mental capacity also increases their susceptibility to leukemia in childhood.
- Children:
Baby-smokers exposed to the death of the Nativity, more than others, and their children suffer most from the sensitivity and bronchial asthma and acute respiratory infections and recurrent otitis media.
The British study found a high percentage of nicotine in the saliva of children who frequently admitted to hospital with breathing problems.
Despite the suffering of children from their parents smoke Infeth increasing proportion of the smoking habit among them when they grow up, because Taudhm - against their will - on the causes of nicotine addiction.

- Adults:
The proportion of infection, asthma and chronic pulmonary infections among those exposed to passive smoking, and increasing the proportion of infected b lung cancer, and the smoker is likely to suffer from the same side-effect of the current more than basic.

And the fight against anti-smoking:

The fight against smoking is an urgent need to fight on and this means:

- Awareness: The definition of b-smoking people in order not to give consciousness, and the definition of smokers that the damage to Itaadahm affects people like them, this may be an incentive to quit smoking
- The provision of specialized medical assistance to smokers because they are able to smoking habit is not easy because of nicotine addiction
- Banning smoking in public places and to punish violators
- Prevention of cigarette advertising, publicity and countermeasures, and to make it difficult

  1. What is asbestos?
    • Chrysotile, or white asbestos;
    • Crocidolite, or blue asbestos;
    • Amosite, which usually has brown fibers; and
    • Anthophyllite, which usually has gray fibers.
  2. Asbestos” is the name given to a group of minerals that occur naturally as bundles of fibers which can be separated into thin threads. These fibers are not affected by heat or chemicals and do not conduct electricity. For these reasons, asbestos has been widely used in many industries. Four types of asbestos have been used commercially:

Chrysotile asbestos, with its curly fibers, is in the serpentine family of minerals. The other types of asbestos, which all have rod-like fibers, are known as amphiboles.

Asbestos fiber masses tend to break easily into a dust composed of tiny particles that can float in the air and stick to clothes. The fibers may be easily inhaled or swallowed and can cause serious health problems.

Comment: Mesothelioma can be caused by exposure to all types of asbestos.

  3. How is asbestos used?

Asbestos was mined and used commercially in North America beginning in the late 1800s. Its use increased greatly during World War II. Since then, it has been used in many industries. For example, the building and construction industry has used it for strengthening cement and plastics as well as for insulation, fireproofing, and sound absorption. The shipbuilding industry has used asbestos to insulate boilers, steampipes, and hot water pipes. The automotive industry uses asbestos in vehicle brakeshoes and clutch pads. More than 5,000 products contain or have contained asbestos. Some of them are listed below:

    • Asbestos cement sheet and pipe products used for water supply and sewage piping, roofing and siding, casings for electrical wires, fire protection material, electrical switchboards and components, and residential and industrial building materials;
    • Friction products, such as clutch facings, brake linings for automobiles, gaskets, and industrial friction materials;
    • Products containing asbestos paper, such as table pads and heat-protective mats, heat and electrical wire insulation, industrial filters for beverages, and underlying material for sheet flooring;
    • Asbestos textile products, such as packing components, roofing materials, and heat- and fire-resistant fabrics (including blankets and curtains); and
    • Other products, including ceiling and floor tile; gaskets and packings; paints, coatings, and adhesives; caulking and patching tape; artificial ashes and embers for use in gas-fired fireplaces; plastics; vermiculite-containing consumer garden products; and some talc-containing crayons.

In the late 1970s, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) banned the use of asbestos in wallboard patching compounds and gas fireplaces because the asbestos fibers in these products could be released into the environment during use. Additionally, asbestos was voluntarily withdrawn by manufacturers of electric hair dryers. In 1989, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned all new uses of asbestos; uses established prior to 1989 are still allowed.

The EPA has established regulations that require school systems to inspect for damaged asbestos and to eliminate or reduce the exposure to occupants by removing the asbestos or encasing it. In June 2000, the CPSC concluded that the risk of children’s exposure to asbestos fibers in crayons was extremely low. However, the U.S. manufacturers of these crayons agreed to reformulate their products within a year. In August 2000, the EPA recommended that consumers reduce possible asbestos exposure from vermiculite-containing garden products by limiting the amount of dust produced during use. The EPA suggested that consumers use vermiculite outdoors or in a well-ventilated area; keep vermiculite damp while using it; avoid bringing dust from vermiculite use into the home on clothing; and use premixed potting soil, which is less likely to generate dust.

The regulations described above and other actions, coupled with widespread public concern about the hazards of asbestos, have resulted in a significant annual decline in U.S. use of asbestos: Domestic consumption of asbestos amounted to about 719,000 metric tons in 1973, but it had dropped to about 9,000 metric tons by 2002. Asbestos is currently used most frequently in gaskets and in roofing and friction products.

  4. What are the health hazards of exposure to asbestos?

Exposure to asbestos may increase the risk of several serious diseases:

    • Asbestosis-a chronic lung ailment that can produce shortness of breath, coughing, and permanent lung damage;
    • Lung cancer;
    • Mesothelioma-a relatively rare cancer of the thin membranes that line the chest and abdomen; and
    • Other cancers, such as those of the larynx, oropharynx, gastrointestinal tract, and kidney.
  5. Who is at risk?

Nearly everyone is exposed to asbestos at some time during their life. However, most people do not become ill from their exposure. People who become ill from asbestos are usually those who are exposed to it on a regular basis, most often in a job where they work directly with the material or through substantial environmental contact.

Since the early 1940s, millions of American workers have been exposed to asbestos. Health hazards from asbestos fibers have been recognized in workers exposed in shipbuilding trades, asbestos mining and milling, manufacturing of asbestos textiles and other asbestos products, insulation work in the construction and building trades, brake repair, and a variety of other trades. Demolition workers, drywall removers, and firefighters also may be exposed to asbestos fibers. As a result of Government regulations and improved work practices, today’s workers (those without previous exposure) are likely to face smaller risks than did those exposed in the past.

Although it is known that the risk to workers increases with heavier exposure and longer exposure time, investigators have found asbestos-related diseases in individuals with only brief exposures. Generally, those who develop asbestos-related diseases show no signs of illness for a long time after their first exposure. It can take from 10 to 40 years for symptoms of an asbestos-related condition to appear.

There is some evidence that family members of workers heavily exposed to asbestos face an increased risk of developing mesothelioma. This risk is thought to result from exposure to asbestos fibers brought into the home on the shoes, clothing, skin, and hair of workers. This type of exposure is called paraoccupational exposure. To decrease these exposures, people exposed to asbestos at work are required to shower and change their clothing before leaving the workplace.

  6. How great is the risk?

Not all workers exposed to asbestos will develop diseases related to their exposure. The risk of developing asbestos-related diseases varies with the type of industry in which the exposure occurred and with the extent of the exposure. Asbestos that is bonded into finished products such as walls and tiles poses no risk to health as long as it is not damaged or disturbed (for example, by sawing or drilling) in such a way as to release fibers into the air. When asbestos fibers are set free and inhaled, however, exposed individuals are at risk of developing an asbestos-related disease.

  7. How does smoking affect risk?

Many studies have shown that the combination of smoking and asbestos exposure is particularly hazardous. Smokers who are also exposed to asbestos have a greatly increased risk of lung cancer. However, smoking combined with asbestos exposure does not appear to increase the risk of mesothelioma.

There is evidence that quitting smoking will reduce the risk of lung cancer among asbestos-exposed workers. People who were exposed to asbestos on the job at any time during their life or who suspect they may have been exposed should not smoke. If they smoke, they should stop.

  8. Who needs to be examined?

Individuals who have been exposed (or suspect they have been exposed) to asbestos fibers on the job or at home via a family contact should inform their physician of their exposure history and any symptoms. Asbestos fibers can be measured in urine, feces, mucus, or material rinsed out of the lungs. A thorough physical examination, including a chest x-ray and lung function tests, may be recommended. It is important to note that chest x-rays cannot detect asbestos fibers in the lungs, but they can help identify any lung changes resulting from asbestos exposure. Interpretation of the chest x-ray may require the help of a specialist who is experienced in reading x-rays for asbestos-related diseases. Other tests also may be necessary.

As noted earlier, the symptoms of asbestos-related diseases may not become apparent for many decades after exposure. If any of the following symptoms develop, a physical examination should be scheduled without delay:

    • Shortness of breath;
    • A cough or a change in cough pattern;
    • Blood in the sputum (fluid) coughed up from the lungs;
    • Pain in the chest or abdomen;
    • Difficulty in swallowing or prolonged hoarseness; and/or
    • Significant weight loss.

  9. How can workers protect themselves?

Employers are required to follow regulations dealing with asbestos exposure on the job that have been issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Federal agency responsible for health and safety regulations in maritime, construction, manufacturing, and service workplaces. The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) enforces regulations related to mine safety. Workers should use all protective equipment provided by their employers and follow recommended work practices and safety procedures. For example, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-approved respirators that fit properly should be worn by workers when required.

Workers who are concerned about asbestos exposure in the workplace should discuss the situation with other employees, their employee health and safety representative, and their employers. If necessary, OSHA can provide more information or make an inspection. Regional offices of OSHA are listed in the “United States Government” section of telephone directories’ blue pages (under “Department of Labor”). 10. Will the Government provide examinations and treatment for asbestos-related conditions? What about insurance coverage?

Medical services related to asbestos exposure are available through the Government for certain groups of eligible individuals. In general, individuals must pay for their own medical services unless they are covered by private or Government health insurance. Some people with symptoms of asbestos-related illness may be eligible for Medicare coverage. Information about benefits is available from the Medicare office serving each state. For the telephone number of the nearest office, call toll-free 1-800-633-4227 (1-800-MEDICARE) or visit http://www.medicare.gov on the Internet.

People with asbestos-related diseases also may qualify for financial help, including medical payments, under state workers’ compensation laws. Because eligibility requirements vary from state to state, workers should contact the workers’ compensation program in their state. Contact information for the workers’ compensation program in each state may be found in the blue pages of a local telephone directory or at http://www.dol.gov/esa/regs/compliance/owcp/wc.htm on the Internet.

If exposure occurred during employment with a Federal agency (military or civilian), medical expenses and other compensation may be covered by the Federal Employees’ Compensation Program. Eligible veterans and their dependents may receive health care at a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. Treatment for service-connected and nonservice-connected conditions is provided. If the VA cannot provide the necessary medical care, they will arrange for enrolled veterans to receive care in their community. Information about eligibility and benefits is available from the VA Health Benefits Service Center at 1-877-222-8387 (1-877-222-VETS) or on the VA Web site at http://www.va.gov/health_benefits on the Internet.

  11. Is there a danger of nonoccupational exposure from the environment and products contaminated with asbestos fibers?

Asbestos is so widely used that the entire population has been exposed to some degree. Air, drinking water, and a variety of consumer products all may contain small amounts of asbestos. In addition, asbestos fibers are released into the environment from natural deposits in the earth and as a result of wear and deterioration of asbestos products. Disease is unlikely to result from a single, high-level exposure, or from a short period of exposure to lower levels of asbestos.

  12. What other organizations offer information related to asbestos exposure?

The organizations listed below can provide more information about asbestos exposure.

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) is responsible for preventing exposure, adverse human health effects, and diminished quality of life associated with exposure to hazardous substances from waste sites, unplanned releases, and other sources of pollution present in the environment.
